Hi, my name is Paulo Sampaio! I’m a civil engineer with MSc in statistics and operations research. I’ve been working with data science since 2013 on a multitude of projects such as classifying fashion catalog images (colour, patterns details) for a retail tech start up, wind speed/direction prediction for team competing in a famous around-the-world ocean race, minimizing legal costs for an international transport company, among many other. I’m particularly interested in computer vision algorithms and on deployment/maintenance of machine learning models.

I’ve been lucky enough to develop an international (I worked in Brasil, Peru, Ecuador, Chile, Spain and England) and diverse career, having worked as business manager (defining value proposition, calculating project returns, optimizing margins, leading and developing team), tech lead (defining modelling strategy, being translator for business teams, reviewing code, training and developing tech team) and, naturally, coding and implementing models myself.
